PicScience Career Development Series

💬 Think back to your first internship — what skills did you gain that still help you today?

🌱 Meet Faith, a high school student in the Montgomery school system, who joined PicScience as a summer intern and tutor. Faith worked directly with students to strengthen their skills in fractions, helping prepare them for the upcoming Math Tournament.

This opportunity gave Faith her first taste of real-world professional development, equipping her with transferable skills that will support her in college, career, and beyond.

Through her internship, Faith gained:

  • Teaching & Communication Skills – explaining math concepts in clear, simple ways.

  • Patience & Adaptability – learning to adjust her teaching style to meet each child’s needs.

  • Leadership & Mentorship – serving as a role model for students while guiding their academic growth.

  • Time Management & Responsibility – balancing her role as a student with internship duties.

  • Collaboration & Teamwork – working alongside other interns and staff.

  • Confidence Building – realizing her ability to impact others through teaching.

Faith’s story reflects how early opportunities in tutoring and STEM enrichment prepare high school students not only for academic success but also for meaningful leadership roles in their future careers.
